Deleting Servers

You can delete Server nodes from the Installations tree. Read this topic before deleting a Server.

Use caution when deleting Servers

Deleting a Server deletes the server, all server roles on the server, and all associations to those roles.

If an application relies on a server role Entity that contains a logical, predefined set of components (system software or certified third-party software) deployed in the Data Center and Site Zones that provide specific functionality for the system. that resides on the Server you are deleting, that application can stop working after you delete the Server.

Deleting servers with active alarms

If you delete a server with active alarms, the active alarms continue to display in the Alarm Dashboard user interface after the server is deleted. To clear active alarms for a deleted server, manually acknowledge the alarms.

Adding deleted servers back to the Installations tree

After you delete a server, you can add the Server back to the Installations tree.

When you add the server back, you must manually activate and reconfigure its server roles.

If you delete a Server that has a serial number, you cannot change the host name of the server and add it back to the Installations tree. (All recorder servers have serial numbers.) If you do not change the server host name, you can add the server back.

Adding deleted servers to a different instance of Enterprise Manager

You can delete a server from the v11.2 (or higher) Enterprise Manager, and add that server to a different instance of the v11.2 (or higher) Enterprise Manager.
