Add a server to a functioning application server cluster

You can expand an existing application server cluster by adding servers to it.

Before you begin

  • The server you are adding must have the same server roles installed as the other servers in the cluster. The server roles must also be of the same software version as the server roles on the other servers in the cluster.

  • The server you are adding cannot be involved in any kind of redundant relationship with another server in the environment. Specifically, a clustered server cannot be part of either a Secondary Role relationship or an IP extension cluster.

Procedure

app

  1. Install the server and connect it to the same database to which the other servers in the cluster are connected.

Do not connect the server to the load balancing device yet.

  2. Add the server to the Server Cluster node.

When you add the server to the server cluster, the server automatically assumes the configuration of the primary server in the cluster.

  3. From the Windows desktop on the newly added server, select Start, Administrative Tools, Services, and restart these Windows services:

    • Impact Configuration & Monitoring Service

    • Impact System Monitoring Agent

    • WFO_ProductionDomain_ProductionServer service

  4. Verify that the cache is set up correctly.

  5. Use the WebLogic Configuration Tool to configure Single Sign-On (SSO) on the newly added server. For details, see the Workforce Optimization Authentication Configuration Guide.

  6. Connect the newly added server to the load balancing device.
